RoboSUST, the only research-based robotics club at Shah Jalal University of Science and Technology, SUST, has completed the “Mentoring Program” for its month-long flagship event, “The Mythical RoboSUST Month”. RoboSUST aspires to teach young people robotics education in Sylhet and Bangladesh, make robotics skills available to underprivileged children in our country, and represent Bangladesh nationally and internationally on robotics platforms. This is the essence of this program.
The program succeeded in giving first-year students at SUST a tour of the importance of robotics. I introduced them to the skills they will learn in the upcoming 5-day workshop. He instilled in them the determination to take advantage of their talents in robotics. They were also introduced to Ribo, the first Bengali-speaking robot from Bangladesh. Ribo was a huge project undertaken by RoboSUST in 2015 under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Zafar Iqbal.
Steering was rowdy with 80 robotics enthusiasts. Also in attendance were four RoboSUST guests of honor – Inam Al-Hassan, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering. Nafez Imtiaz Rahman is a teacher in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Sherif Islam is a teacher in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Md Anamul Haque, Mechanical Maintenance Engineer at LafargeHolcim Bangladesh Limited, and former Secretary General of RoboSUST.
RoboSUST Senior Adviser, Professor M. Jahirul Islam, Director of IICT, was absent but sent his good wishes for the programme. Each guest took their time to inspire and motivate the youth. Talk to newcomers about YoTech, and RoboSUST’s ideal for sharing robotics knowledge. YoTech CEO Sheikh Asad Zaman was present at the event, but he shared his words with them via a pre-recorded video. YoTech welcomes participants to visit and join their technology companies in the future.
Their program sections included Robotics Basics, Project Showcase, Snacks, Ideas Contest, and Quiz Contest. The Bot Basics section gave new members of RoboSUST some simple guidelines on what a bot is.
The project presentation section of the five senior executive members of RoboSUST introduced to the public some projects such as Maze Solver, LED Cube, Buzz Wires and Line Follower Robots. Projects are presented live and explained in easily digestible detail to spark interest and curiosity. Contest winners took home lucrative prizes of custom RoboSUST T-shirts and other exciting items.
The new students were instructed at the 5-day ‘Introduction to Robotics’ workshop that starts today.
