Payload interface nodes expand MDA’s impact in the emerging commercial space infrastructure market
Brampton, ONAnd the September 20 2022 /PRNewswire/ – MDA Ltd. announced. (TSX:MDA), a leading provider of advanced technology and services to the rapidly growing global aerospace industry, today announced the second commercial sale of its Canadarm3 technology-derived products to Axiomspace.
The new contract is for the delivery of 62 payload interface pairs to Axiom’s Axiom Space station. The interfaces will provide mechanical, electrical, and data connections for payloads that are installed externally on an Axiom terminal to perform activities including scientific research, Earth observation, communications and a range of other applications.
This is the second commercial contract signed between MDA and Axiom this year, and paves the way for more opportunities ahead of the launch of the first Axiom terminal planned in 2024.

The Axiom station will be built and operated through private sector funds, and will initially be linked to the International Space Station (ISS). It will separate from the International Space Station before ISS partners cease operations at the end of the decade, and will later serve as a global research and commercial hub that establishes a strong and competitive economy in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) — including manufacturing in space, human spaceflight missions to Low Earth Orbit , and exploration of deep space.
