Man guilty of sexually assaulting a girl in Orangeburg County

A St George man will spend the next 16 years in prison after he confesses to sexually assaulting a girl in Orangeburg County.

Antonio Bethea Rasperi, 34, has pleaded guilty to second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor between the ages of 11 and 14.

Circuit Judge R. Markle Dennis sentenced Rasberry to 20 years in prison, with a 16-year suspended sentence instead, during a recent trial in Orangeburg County.

Dennis gave Rasberry credit for having already served 250 days in the Orangeburg County Detention Center.

A minor accused Rasberry of having sex with her without her consent.

The girl told her mother that the sexual abuse began when she was thirteen years old.

In other recent guilty plea cases:

• Henry Clay Goulson, 50, of 110 Robinson Court, Gaston, pleaded guilty to two counts of enhanced shoplifting of $2,000 or less.

Dennis sentenced him to 90 days in prison and gave him credit for the time he served.

• Detroit Gavin Goodwin, 23, of 474 Jamison Avenue, Orangeburg, pleaded guilty to pointing and delivering a firearm.

Dennis was sentenced under the Young Offender Act to no more than five years in prison, suspended for 18 months.

• Jeremiah N. Haynes, 31, of 123 Licorice Lane, Elloree, pleaded guilty to possession of less than one ounce of marijuana, an open container of alcohol, driving on a first offense under a suspension license not suspended due to a DUI and first offense possession of a substance controlled.

Dennis sentenced him to four days in prison and gave him credit for the time he served.

• Robert Louis Henderson, 31 years old, 1406 Glenfield Circle, Orangeburg, pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice.

He was originally charged with solidarity after committing a felony, but pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice instead.

Dennis sentenced him to a month in prison and gave him credit for the time he served.

• Xavier Jamal Kit, 35, 172 Cloverdale Lane, Orangeburg, pleaded guilty to illegally carrying a handgun.

Dennis was sentenced to pay a $100 fine or spend 30 days in prison.

At the discretion of prosecutors, Kate’s accusation of possession of a firearm by a person convicted of a violent felony has been dismissed.

• Joshua Gilliel Legere, 30, of 123 Army Drive, Orangeburg, pleaded guilty to a first offense in non-stop blue lights.

Dennis was sentenced to three years in prison. After he serves 90 days, the remainder of his sentence will be suspended to two years of probation.

Dennis was also ordered to complete 60 hours of work in public service, undergo a random drug/alcohol test and not violate any of his probation terms.

At the prosecutors’ discretion, Legree dropped the following charges: leaving the scene of an accident involving an uncontrolled vehicle, first infringement possession of a controlled substance, operating a vehicle on a highway without registration and a license for delinquency, loitering, operating an unregistered and licensed vehicle, and using a license plate other than Vehicle issued, failure to maintain proof of insurance in the vehicle, and possession of one ounce or less of marijuana on a first offense.

• Ramon Charles Ooty, 35, of 2180 Pennridge Street, Orangeburg, pleaded guilty to a second-degree nonviolent burglary.

Dennis sentenced him to 90 days in prison and gave him credit for the time he served.

• Fleton Luke Sarren, 44, of 1 Happy Valley Drive, Unalakleet, Alaska, pleaded guilty to indecent exposure.

Dennis sentenced him to 90 days in prison and gave him credit for the time he served.

• Joe Patrick Simpson, 30, of 5822 Freedom Road, Branchville, pleaded guilty to possession of a stolen handgun.

Simpson was originally charged with possession of a firearm by someone who had been convicted of a violent felony, but pleaded guilty to possession of a stolen handgun instead.

Dennis was sentenced to three years in prison, suspended for 18 months on probation.
