The project works using a sensor that detects movement outside your door. When it picks you up, the LED will turn on and you will be asked to say a specific, pre-set password for access. If true, this will turn on another LED and music player and you will be allowed in. If you say the wrong password, a beep will sound and the camera will take a picture of you (or your intruder) and post it to Twitter.
This system also helps keep the home safe by detecting if the water and gas in your kitchen exceed a certain limit. If so, you’ll get an alert on your phone and the fan will turn on to take the gas out of the house.
Aaron Koo He built this entire IoT security model as a final year project submission during his final engineering year at university. It’s designed to be accessed remotely from any smart device or computer, allowing you to quickly stay on top of your entire home security.
The project relies on multiple sensors installed throughout the house. When the system is activated, any malicious activities that occur will be detected and an alert with a message will be sent to the homeowner.
Furthermore, the data collected by the sensors will be stored in the cloud and displayed on a website via a dedicated web-based application. This allows you to monitor any suspicious activity that occurs in real time. The project also features access control technology, using a “near field communication” approach that can identify trusted individuals who have the right to enter the home.
