DIY SOS welcomes applicants throughout the year, and you can apply to view yourself or nominate someone else who needs help renovating their home.

There is an easy online form to fill out at the BBC websitewhich takes you through the steps of the application.

Participants do not pay any costs for construction or materials.

However, there are some rules and guidelines, as the website states: ‘If you are a homeowner, or know a homeowner, circumstances have changed meaning you now require major construction work on your property, then we may be able to help.

He continues, “We’re not looking for projects that only involve painting and decorating a few rooms.

“In previous episodes, we’ve built one- and even two-story extensions, installed wet rooms, stair lifts, and completely renovated and remodeled homes from garden to loft.”

On the application, you will need to state your situation or that of the homeowner in up to 200 words.

If you are applying as an individual, you must be a UK homeowner of a private home and own one property.

How to apply as a DIY SOS volunteer on the BBC

There is no official way to apply as a BBC DIY SOS volunteer. However, you may be selected to participate at the last minute.
