“Did your mom ever tell you that the average person spends 8.5 hours a week in the car!? That’s 18 days a year!” Costello commented Her video provides quick and easy car cleaning tipsIncluding removing things from the car every night and using vinegar to combat odors.

But it was Costello’s advice to use “Babs’ Magical Car Gummy Cleaner” that got people talking.

“Use this to clean hard-to-reach nooks and crannies in your car or in your electronic devices,” Costello wrote. “Pick up bits of dirt you didn’t know existed.”

In the video, Costello is seen mixing the gum-like substance made up of gum, baking soda and brine in her car’s cup holder.

“Ingredients: 1 cup white glue (like Elmer’s); 2 teaspoons baking soda; 2 tablespoons contact lens solution,” Costello wrote in the caption.

She continued, “Instructions: Pour all the ingredients into the car cup holder. Mix them together until completely combined. Leave the mixture in the cup holder for 5-10 minutes. Then knead a little gum cleaner and clean it!”

The post quickly garnered more than 56,000 likes and nearly 900 comments.

Followers were quick to consider trying the chewing gum recipe, as well as tagging others who could use some of their car cleaning tips themselves.

“The recipe came from my days as a preschool teacher,” Costello said. fathers day. “We used to make silly slime, but we realized that slime does more than keep the kids entertained. It’s really a good cleaner for places you never get to.”

Some commenters wanted to know if it was really possible to mix the resin in the cup holder. Costello says yes.

“You have to stir it up a little bit, and it will thicken and thicken,” Costello explained about the mixture. “It doesn’t stick to anything. It doesn’t leave a residue. It just sticks to all dirt, grime, and dust. It just sucks up dirt.”

Other commentators were curious about whether the mixture could be reused. Costello told TODAY that the mixture makes “a lot” and can be broken down for multiple uses.

A smart tip to know beforehand is that the “gum cleaner” will expand if left in the car. But don’t worry: “It’s rolling again,” Costello said.
